Day 1 : A Colorful and Vibrant Kick off
The excitement was palpable as MinPop 2024 kicked off on August 15 at the SM Lanang Northwing Grounds. The first day of the festival was a celebration of Mindanao’s rich musical heritage, featuring an incredible lineup of performances that truly set the tone for the days to come.
The day began with performances from the talented artists of MinPop 1 & 2. Gleetery, Chrissel dela Cruz, Maric Gavino, Marckenny, Jetz Tacsanan, Psquare, and Dorothy Blez graced the stage with their captivating performances, showcasing their unique styles and musical prowess. Each artist brought something special to the stage, reminding us why Mindanao’s music scene is a force to be reckoned with.
Next up were the Mindanao Indie Pop Artists, who took the energy up a notch. The crowd was treated to electrifying performances by Marckenny, Mau & J Florence, RXHMND, Jovit Leonerio, Dana Algabre, RJ Manulid, Annilov, Luis Rabat, and MBProject with Pao Lofranco. Their fresh sounds and dynamic performances had everyone rivetted and captivated.
The evening continued with performances by National Songwriting Champions and Contenders, where Eamarie, Kyle Raphael, Chud Festejo, and Maric Gavino showcased their songwriting skills and musical talent. Although Peniel was unable to join the performance, the lineup still delivered an unforgettable experience for the audience.
The highlight of the night was the performance by our featured artist, Maan Chua, whose soulful voice and heartfelt performance left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. The day concluded with an OPM Jam session by Gap69, which kept the crowd entertained and buzzing with excitement.
Day 2: The Rhythm Continues
As the second day of MinPop 2024 unfolded on August 16, the energy and excitement only grew. The day was filled with more incredible performances that showcased the diversity and talent of Mindanaoan artists.
The Mindanao Indie Pop Artists returned to the stage, delivering powerful performances that left the audience in awe. DAS, Anne Mendoza, Ian Sison, Cerise, and CJ Kaamino brought their A-game, each performance adding to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.
International flair was added to the mix with performances by JPop artists Sakura Dolls and Ziga. Their unique sound and girl power style added a fresh dimension to the festival, showing that MinPop is not just a celebration of local talent, but also a platform for international artists to connect with the Mindanaoan audience.
The OPM Jam session by Aila and the R2K Band was the highlight, as the band delivered a set that had the crowd singing along to every OPM note. Their energy and passion for music were contagious, making it a memorable experience for everyone.
As the sun set on Day 2, the excitement for the final day began to build. With the MinPop 2024 Finals just around the corner, everyone is eager to see who will take home the top honors in this year’s competition.
